Children can visit with Santa, Dec. 9

UBLY - Santa will be at Sleeper Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children will receive a small treat with their visit. Please bring your own camera. This event is sponsored by the Ubly Lioness Club.

Children’s Merry Christmas Party at Bad Axe library

BAD AXE - The Children’s Merry Christmas Party at the Bad Axe Area District Library is set for Saturday, Dec. 9. There will be lots of fun activities for kids to participate in. Kids can stop in to the Library any time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. for Christmas-themed games, bingo, crafts and movies. Pigeon library giving tree needs gifts by Dec. 9

PIGEON - Pigeon District Library Director Jane Himmel is looking for new or gently-used books for the library’s giving tree for children up to age 17. The books will be wrapped and taken to the local food pantry for delivery. When bringing books to the library for giving tree, please let the staff know the books are for that cause so they can be wrapped. The last day for dropping off books will be Saturday, Dec. 9. Community Christmas Sing-Along Concert, Dec. 10

CASEVILLE - The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Annual Community Christmas Sing- Along Concert will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10 at the church, Crescent Beach Road at M-25, Caseville. Everyone is invited. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food items to be donated to the Caseville Community Food Pantry. Financial offerings for the pantry are welcome. “Christmas with the Kranks” - Dec. 11

HARBOR BEACH - The Friends of the Harbor Beach Area District Library are sponsoring a free movie, Monday, Dec. 11: “Christmas with the Kranks” (2004, PG, 159 min., comedy, family, Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dan Aykroyd). Details: 989-479-3417.

Unionville library to host Annual Holiday Open House, Dec. 12

UNIONVILLE - Columbia Township Library, 6456 Center St. (M-24), Unionville, will host its Annual Holiday Open House, Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Library staff members will be collecting non-perishable food items to benefit local families through the “Caring & Sharing” program. They say, “This is a great chance to get rid of any unpaid library fines: get $1 cleared from your account for each item donated!” Community members may also donate children’s Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree (call 989-674-2651 for more information). The open house will also feature crafts, refreshments, and free DVD rentals. Library staff members also say, “We hope to see you there!” Details: 989-674-2651.

Pt. Hope Retirees Christmas Party, Dec. 12

PT. HOPE - The Pt. Hope Retirees Christmas Party will be Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Amvets Hall. All are invited. Doors will open at 11 a.m., with dinner at noon. Thumb Ag Day date set for Dec. 13

UBLY - The date for the 2017 Thumb Ag Day event is Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the Ubly Heights Country Club in Ubly. The program will feature educational programming and a chance to visit with more than 65 agribusinesses exhibiting at this year’s program. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and remain open until 3:30 p.m. for participants to view exhibits and attend educational programs, which start at 9:15 a.m. Lunch is optional at $10 per person, admission otherwise is free. Thumb Ag Day is sponsored by Michigan State University Extension and supported by the area’s agricultural businesses. Prayer fellowship, Dec. 13

ELKTON - The Elkton Prayer Fellowship will meet Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the Elkton Missionary Church, 220 N. Main St., Elkton. “The Buggs” (Raymond & Susan), from Harbor Beach, will bring joy and enthusiasm with them. The time will include fellowship, praise, prayer and a shared Christmas luncheon.

Choral & hand bell concert, Dec. 17

PIGEON - “Advent Hope, Christmas Joy,” a choral and hand bell concert, will be performed on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. at Cross Lutheran Church, 200 Ruppert St., Pigeon. Lisa Keim’s Studio Recital, Dec. 17

“The Brenda Lee Show,” Dec. 18

“Lone Wolf Night” - Dec. 29

BAD AXE - “Lone Wolf Night” will be presented by Huron County Recovery Roundtable (HCRR) on Friday, Dec. 29 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bad Axe. Live music will be provided by local band “Staff Infection” and dinner will be provided by HCRR. There is no cost and the event is open to all ages. Organizers say the event is “Just a good, relaxed atmosphere for people who want to have fun in the absence of alcohol or other drugs during the Holiday season!”
