Bad Axe Elementary School hosts Farming Extravaganza

Photo by John Bonke Photo by John Bonke BAD AXE - Bad Axe Elementary School Principal Sharon Brighton came up with idea of having a ‘Down On The Farm Day’ to provide a handson opportunity for early elementary students to interact with farm equipment, farm products and farm animals. The result was Bad Axe Elementary School hosting “Farming Extravaganza” at the school on Friday, Oct. 19. Brighton said that Bad Axe Elementary Paraprofessional Sharon Osentoski was “the heart of this project” and Mrs. Tammy Lutz helped out.

Young Five through second grade students from Bad Axe Elementary participated in this agricultural adventure and other children from Sonshine Day Care also dropped by to attend the event.

For the activities, Dan Bambach with Tri-County Equipment of Bad Axe, as well as Tim Osentoski and Tim Osentoski Jr. with Osentoski Farm Equipment, brought farm equipment that the students could see and climb up into the cab. Pigeon Co-op donated all of the animal feed as well as edible beans and wheat. Osentoski brought her pony, goats, chickens, turkey and duck for the children to see up close.

Bad Axe high schoolers from Vicki Yackle’s FFA class provided education about the farm products and animals and helped with setup.
