HC Barn Burners win 2018 Motown Cup

The Huron County 14U Bantam Barn Burner hockey team were crowned champions of the Motown Cup B-1 Bantam division in Detroit during the weekend of Jan. 12 - 14, 2018. The tournament included teams from Plymouth, Michigan, Northwest Ohio, and Northern Kentucky. The Barn Burners were undefeated over the weekend winning by scores of 11-0, 5-2, and 5-0 in the qualifying rounds and winning the championship game 3-0. Goalie Mitchell Rowland was selected as the tournament MVP with 3 shutouts in 4 games.

Players on the “select” tournament team tryout for the Barn Burner team and attend an extra day of practice weekly. The Barn Burner teams from all divisions (10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U) participate in 2 - 3 out of town tournaments each winter. The Barn Burner Bantam team has upcoming tournaments in Lansing (Spartan Cup) and South Bend, Indiana (Irish Cup) in February and March. Check out the HCHA website (www.huroncountyhockey.com) to see game schedules for local teams of all ages. Games are on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings. Hockey is played at the Huron County Expo Center. The Huron County Hockey Association (HCHA) annual fundraiser dinner is Saturday, Feb. 10 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Organizers say, “Come see some exciting hockey (games all day long), have a good meal, and support a great cause!”
