SEBEWAING - What did mystery visitors think about Sebewaing? The results will be revealed in a free presentation from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Sebewaing Township Library Community Room, 27 N. Center St., Sebewaing. Business owners, elected officials, civic and religious organization members, educators, families and all other residents are invited and encouraged to attend. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served.

Michigan State University-Extension’s (MSUE) First Impression: Assessing your community for tourism program (FIT) looks at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. It is a statewide program that looks at a community through the eyes of a first-time visitor. Sebewaing received a pre-determined number of visitors from MSU Extension’s Greening Michigan Institute who conducted a pre-visit online, just as if they were planning to visit the area on their own and then spent approximately 24 hours in the community unannounced and assessed the community. A written report of results is being prepared so future planning can be coordinated around suggestions and the community has the option whether to act upon them. The community can use the results to help shape its master plan. Sebewaing will receive $2,000 from Prosperity Region 6 to help it move forward in its next steps.
